Many candidates find the DGSA training requirements leading up to the Scottish Qualifications Authority examination extremely difficult, a fact bourn out by the high failure level. A surprising amount actually sit the exam three times before finally gaining that coveted certificate.

Most commercially run courses are for up to ten, or more, candidates. And, due to the nature of the course, most on them will fail because they do not receive the attention required.

At RoadSafe we take a different approach.

We would strongly recommend that only people who have had a long involvement with the industry consider this course, preferably persons who already hold a valid ADR certificate. It should be remembered that examination fees and reference material represent an investment of almost £400.00, before any tuition costs.

We are able to offer the following study options for both road and rail:

All Classes, General Chemical Classes or "Mineral Oils" (fuels)

Our courses progress at the candidates own pace, usually five days being sufficient, to ensure that the wealth of information required is understood. We can offer this instruction at our Southampton Training Centre or can come to you and train on-site if preferred. In addition, homework assignments are also set to reinforce the topics covered over the day. After the course and before the examinations we continue to set questions to keep the information fresh.

In some cases we may be able to give the necessary training over consecutive weekends.

We will also be available to you to offer any further advice or support you may need when returning to your new role.

Usually the training is given as a need to appoint a DGSA has been identified. Because the examinations are only held every few months, and the certificates can take up to eight weeks to arrive, it's possible that the time in which your company is still liable for prosecution could be six months. So, we can  undertake to act as your DGSA during this period so when your new DGSA takes over the framework is in place. The candidates are invited to assist in the process, giving them a practical demonstration of their future role.
