There is no single refresh period for all Dangerous Goods qualifications. The interval depends on the role and transport mode:
ADR Vocational Training Certificate - Every 5 years, with refresher training and exams before the card expires. The refresher exam must be taken at least 2 weeks before expiry. GOV.UK
Dangerous Goods Safety Adviser certificate (UK: road, rail or inland waterways) -Every 5 years. Renewal exams must be passed during the certificate’s final year. GOV.UK
Air transport Dangerous Goods training - Recurrent training and assessment within 24 months of the previous training and assessment under ICAO rules. A country or operator may impose a shorter interval. ICAOFor UK road and rail security-awareness training, Department for Transport guidance says to review the need for updates every 2 years and provide refresher training at intervals of no more than 5 years, more often if the risk assessment calls for it. That is guidance for security awareness, not a blanket five-year expiry for all staff training.
