ADR Dangerous Goods Awareness Training
Practical training for employees involved in transporting dangerous goods by road
Anyone whose work concerns the carriage of dangerous goods must receive training appropriate to their responsibilities and duties.
RoadSafe Europe’s ADR Dangerous Goods Awareness course helps employees understand the hazards associated with dangerous goods, their legal responsibilities and the procedures they must follow to keep consignments, vehicles and people safe.
Training is tailored to your organisation’s activities, the goods you handle and the responsibilities of the employees attending.
Course details
Who needs ADR awareness training
ADR Chapter 1.3 requires personnel whose duties concern the carriage of dangerous goods to receive training appropriate to their responsibilities.
This can include:
Employees should receive the necessary training before taking on dangerous goods responsibilities. Until they have been trained, they should perform those duties only under the direct supervision of a suitably trained person.
Training matched to each job function
ADR awareness training should reflect what an employee actually does. A warehouse operative, transport planner and consignor will not necessarily require identical training.
Before the course, we will discuss your operation, the dangerous goods involved and the responsibilities of the employees attending. We can then concentrate on the subjects that are relevant to your organisation.
Course content
The course can include:
The content will be adjusted to suit the roles of the delegates and the types of dangerous goods your organisation handles.
Security awareness
ADR requires relevant training to include dangerous goods security awareness.
Delegates will learn about:
Additional training may be required for personnel who have specific responsibilities involving high-consequence dangerous goods.
What delegates will learn
After completing the course, delegates should be able to:
Certification and training records
Each delegate receives a traceable certificate of attendance for inclusion in the employer’s training records.
ADR does not set a single expiry period for Chapter 1.3 awareness training. Employers must periodically supplement training with refresher instruction so that employees remain familiar with current regulations, their duties and any changes to the organisation’s activities.
Training records should be retained by the employer and made available to the employee or enforcement authorities when requested.
Bespoke company training
The most effective awareness training reflects the consignments, equipment and procedures employees encounter at work.
We can tailor the course around:
Courses can be delivered at your premises throughout the UK, reducing employee travel and allowing several members of your team to be trained together.
Important information for drivers
This awareness course does not provide an ADR Driver Training Certificate or ADR card.
Drivers carrying dangerous goods above the applicable ADR thresholds, or in tanks where the qualification is required, must complete approved ADR driver training and pass the relevant examinations.
Please contact us if you are unsure whether a driver requires awareness training or the full ADR driver qualification.
